CPO Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to the following individuals who were selected by a committee composed of senior and master chief petty officers to receive the 2003 CPO Scholarships.

Active Duty West
  Alicia Louise Kelly

Alicia Louise Kelly, the daughter of NCC(AW) James M. Kelly, is representing the Active Duty West category.  She graduated from J. D. Darnall High School in Geneseo, IL, where she was on the Honor Roll, and a member of the school band, color guard, Key Club and Student Council. She enjoys singing, dancing and writing poetry.  Alicia will be attending Bradley University in Peoria, IL and will be majoring in Psychology.

   
 

Arielle N. Maccio

Arielle N. Maccio is the daughter of PRCS Daniel L. Marshall and is representing the Active Duty West category.  She graduated from Santana High School in Santee, CA.  Arielle was a member of the California Scholastic Foundation, represented her school at the National Young Leaders Conference, was on the Honor Roll and a member of the National Honor Society.  She enjoys Journalism, Tennis and Photography.  Arielle will be attending the University of California at San Diego and will be majoring in Social Science/International Relations.

Active Duty East

 

Heidi Renay Kegley

Heidi Renay Kegley, daughter of AVCM(AW) David R. Kegley, is representing the Active Duty East category.  She attended Rogers High School in Newport, RI where she graduated with honors, receiving numerous awards including: Presidential Physical Fitness, Honor Roll Achievement, JROTC Military Training Certificate, and Athletic Achievement Award.  She enjoys soccer, swimming, cheerleading, dancing and traveling.  Heidi will be attending the University of Texas at Arlington and plans on majoring in Nursing with hopes of being a Neo-natal nurse and working in Naval Hospitals.

   

Stacy Dianne Shoe

Stacy Dianne Shoe is the daughter of MMCS(SS) Randy Shoe and is representing the Active Duty East category.  She graduated from Lake Taylor High School in Norfolk, VA and some of her awards include Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Access Scholar, and the Presidential Award.  She enjoys playing volleyball, being a member of the French Club and being a participant in the Tidewater Science Fair.  Stacy will be attending Virginia Wesleyan College in Virginia Beach, VA and will be majoring in Anthropology/Archaeology with a PhD as her goal.

OUTCONUS

  Holly L. Denihan

Holly L. Denihan is the daughter of YNCS(SW/SCW) James E. Denihan and is representing the Active Duty OUTCONUS category.  She graduated from the Naples American High School in Naples, Italy.  She received achievement awards in Drama, Italian, Chemistry, and Journalism.  She was a member of the National Honor Society and the Thespian Society.  Holly enjoys acting, cheerleading and tennis.  She will be attending Cleveland State University and will be majoring in Secondary Mathematics Education.

 

 
  Erica L. Guerrido

Erica L. Guerrido, the daughter of AEC(AW) Myrna Guerrido, is representing the Active Duty OUTCONUS category.  She graduated from A.T. Mahan High School in Keflavik, Iceland.  She was a Co-Valedictorian, Senior Class Vice President, Student Council Secretary.  Erica was voted Most Likely To Succeed and Miss. Congeniality.  She enjoys volleyball and cheerleading.  She will be attending the University of Maryland – University College in Misawa, Japan and will be majoring in Pediatric Dentistry.

Retired

  Nathaniel B. Smith
 

Nathaniel B. Smith, the son of CTMC Randy B. Smith, is representing the Retired category.  He graduated from Narragansett High School in Narragansett, RI  He was a member of the National Honor Society, the Fellowship of Christian Students, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was nominated as Poet of the Year by the International Society of Poets. Nathaniel lettered in Swimming and was a member of various swim teams winning numerous awards.  He will be majoring in Elementary Education and Spanish.

   
  Vanessa C. Layton
Vanessa C. Layton is the daughter of CTRCS James D. Layton and is representing the Retired category.  She graduated from Bangor Christian Schools in Bangor, ME where she was class president, played varsity golf, basketball, and softball.  She was active in chorus, ensemble, and school musicals. Vanessa was a VFW Voice of Democracy National Winner and a three year medalist at the Maine State Science Fair.  Vanessa will be attending Oral Roberts University majoring in Nursing.

Reserve

 

Ryan J. Lockard

Ryan J. Lockard is the son of BMCM(SW) Darrel L. Lockard and is representing the Reserve category.  He graduated from Creswell High School in Creswell, OR.  Ryan was the Valedictorian of his class and was a member of the National Honor Society and the National Honor Roll.  He lettered for four years in Football, four years in Baseball and two years in Basketball.  He was a member of the Drama Club, the Health Club and a Student Council Reprehensive.  Ryan will be attending Lewis and Clark College in Portland, OR and will be majoring in Mathematics.

   
Bethany Nanamaker
  Bethany Nanamaker is the daughter of CTICS Frederick W. Nanamaker III and is representing the Reserve category.  She graduated from Findlay High School in Findlay, OH  Bethany was a member of the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society.  She was on the school Speech and Debate Team and won numerous Speech awards.  Bethany enjoys acting, music and singing.
