CPO Scholarship Recipients
Congratulations to the following
individuals who were selected by a committee composed of senior and master chief petty
officers to receive the 2000 CPO
Scholarships.

Jennifer
L. Dessert |
 |
Jennifer, our
winner in the Active Duty West category, is the daughter of MMCM(SS) Kurt T.
Dessert stationed at Naval Submarine Training Center, Pacific, Det SD, San Diego, CA.
Jennifer will attend Washington State University and major in Business.
Her interest are toward either Labor Relations, Human Resources, or Business
Management. She graduated from James Madison High School in San Diego, CA as a Honor
Roll student. She was honored for Academic Achievement in American Studies and
English Studies. She not only wrote and performed in the schools annual talent show,
but also wrote a play that was produced for Schools Night of One Act Plays. She was
Founder and President of the Senior Pep Squad and member of the French and Drama Clubs. |

Rowland
J. Aguila |
 |
Rowland won his scholarship in the category for
those stationed outside of the US (OUTCONUS) and is the son of DTCM Bal Aguila
stationed at 3D Dental Battalion, US Naval Dental Center, Okinawa Japan. Rowland
will be attending University of California in Santa Cruz and majoring in computer
information technology as a AFROTC cadet. He graduated from Kubasaki High School in
Okinawa, Japan where he was ranked 3rd of 122. He received the Presidential Academic
Achievement Award and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was a Furman
College Scholar and a Top Student in World Regions. While earning his Varsity Letter
in Wrestling, he was named the Most Improved and Most Valuable Wrestler. |

Amber L. Ryalls |
 |
Amber, our winner
in the Reserve category is the daughter of HMCM Robert S. Ryalls stationed at NR
Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth Det C., Naval Air Reserve, Norfolk, VA. Amber will
attend Longwood College in Farmville, VA, and will major in Elementary Education.
She plans on becoming one of our country's most needed assets, a school teacher.
Amber graduated as Salutatorian from Williamsburg Christian Academy in
Williamsburg, VA. She received the Kings Service Award, Daughter of American
Revolution Citizenship Award, and GWAVA Youth award. She was a member of the
National Beta Club and President of the local chapter. She played Basketball,
Volleyball and was co-captain of the Soccer team. |

Kathy Holdsworth |
 |
Kathy is the
winner in the Active Duty East category and the daughter of Master Chief Richard
Holdsworth stationed with the Atlantic Fleet Band, Norfolk, VA. Kathy lives in
Virginia Beach, VA. She plans on working with agencies that handle adoption
programs. Kathy attended Kellam High School in Virginia Beach and received numerous
awards and honors including Girls All State, All State All Academic and letters in
Soccer. She was a member of the Spanish Club, Key Club and worked for Habitat For
Humanity. |

Chnoic T. Adams |
 |
Chnoic, winner in the Retired
category is the daughter of MSC James K. Adams. She is living in Middletown,
VA, and will attend Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University to major in
Biology, concentrating in pre-medicine, and then on to medical school. Her desire is
to become a doctor and practice in areas of society that have the most need. Chnoic
graduated from Sherando High School in Stephens City, VA. She was an Honor Roll and
National Honors Society student and also a All Area Athlete including being the Team
Captain of the Varsity Tennis Team. |
